February
February Tips
February can be a changeable month, with the risk of frosts still very high. Whilst there’s still very little you can sow outdoors, it is a good month to begin sowing seeds inside. February is great as the weather warms slightly to undertake the larger structural projects, such as new sheds, new greenhouses, and larger bed creation projects. It is also good to continue your potato chitting into February or start if January was too cold.
February Planting
Dependant on location and climate, some ideas for things to sow outdoors: shallots, garlic, early carrots, early lettuce, early peas, Jerusalem artichokes, and broad beans if you didn’t already in January.
Now is also a good time to begin sowing seeds indoors for planting out later in the year:
- Beans,
- Tomatoes,
- Chillies,
- Parsnips,
- Sprouts,
- Peppers,
- Aubergines,
- Cucumbers,
- Celery,
- Broccoli,
- Cauliflower,
- Leeks,
- Onions.
