Holocaust Memorial Day is the day for everyone to remember the millions of lives lost in the Holocaust, under Nazi Persecution and in genocides around the world. This year marks the 80th Anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau and the 30th Anniversary of the crimes in Bosnia.  The genocides which followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia, and Darfur are also commemorated.

In Redditch, we have decided to commemorate this important day by expressing our feelings through poetry, art, sculpture, maybe even music or dance, and bringing our ideas together in a piece of collaborative artwork that will be displayed in Redditch Library.

We have been inspired by images of flames and candles which link to this year’s theme “A Better Future”. You can find out more about the theme's vision here.

WE need YOUR help!

We would like to collect as many different representations of candles and flames as we can to make a display of community artwork, poetry, and commemoration in The Ecumenical Centre and the Central Library in Redditch.

Imagine how it would look if every person in Redditch added their own individual contribution to the design!

You can be as imaginative and creative as you like!

We need to receive your artwork, poetry or other contribution, ideally, before the 20th January 2024. Submissions can be dropped off at Redditch Library or emailed to events@bromsgroveandredditch.gov.uk.
