NEW Cultural Compact Conference 2023
28th March 2023
Preparing our Public Participation Campaign
On the 28th of March 2023 just shy of 60 delegates from across the North East Worcestershire area, and some from even further afield, joined us in the Historic Guesten Hall (Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings) to discuss what the future holds for the North East Worcestershire Cultural Compact and started to prepare for the launch of our new public participation campaign (now known as ReNEW!).
The absolute priority of the project was confirmed to be inclusivity and encouraging young people and the global majority to have their voices heard. This is something we are moving forwards from strength to strength and if you have any ideas how to help us with this please let us know!
Starting with excellent presentations from our theme group chairs: Zoe Willems (Heritage), Petro Nicolaides (Business), and Pete Sugg (Youth). Delegates were brought up to speed with what the compact had achieved in the last year.
We were joined by our then freelance Project Manager, Louisa Davies, who gave a fantastic presentation on the future of activity for the compact. There were several opportunities for delegates to break out into discussion groups to discuss ideas of how to break down barriers to culture for local people in the area.
The Conference also provided the opportunity for all partners to contribute to the thinking behind Of All the People of all the World… North East Worcestershire. The exhibition then remained in place for members of the public visiting Avoncroft to see across the Easter holidays.
If you want to join in with our campaign to build pride in the area just let us know.
