VCS invited to bid for up to £10k from council’s Main Grants pot

Voluntary and community groups are invited to bid for up to £10k of the council’s grant funding for 2023 which opens for applications this week.

Following recommendations from the Executive, it was agreed at full Council on 14th November 2022 that there would be some changes made to the scheme for the three-year period 2023-2026.

The changes now mean that the pot is broken down into two categories, part will be allocated for applications between £500 and £2,000 and part for grants between £2,001 and £10,000.

A total of £100k is available to bid for and it can be used for a variety of things, whether that’s to help with core costs and salaries or to support delivery of great community events, projects, and activities. As in previous years, £10k of this will be used for a Mental Health Pot – for projects specifically focusing on suicide prevention. Leaving a Main Grants Pot of £90k.

The application process opens from 9am on Thursday 2nd February, until 4pm on Friday 24th February 2023.

Leader of Redditch Borough Council, Cllr Matt Dormer, said: “As a council we are committed to supporting voluntary community sector organisations to deliver projects and activities that have a positive and beneficial impact on Redditch and its residents.

“I’m pleased that we will continue to ringfence £10k of this money to support the mental health of our community, with a particular focus around suicide prevention, an issue which Redditch has unfortunately seen too much of over the years.

“The new changes also mean that more groups have the opportunity to apply, whether they need £500, £5000 or more. If you think you could benefit from this grant funding, please submit a bid, or get in touch to find out more.”

There is set criteria in place that anyone wishing to apply must meet. Each proposed project must be something that is needed in the area, well planned, outcome focussed and aligned to the Council’s Strategic Purposes.
