Sun shines on Green Fair and Lions Fun Day crowds

Hundreds of people from across the West Midlands enjoyed a fun-filled free summer afternoon in Arrow Valley Country Park earlier this month thanks to the annual Green Fair and Lions Fun Day.

Events kicked off at 11am on Sunday July 17 with a packed day of displays and demonstrations from the army, fire, and police services to a background of live music and tons of have-a-go entertainment.

Visitors also got to see “Sparky” the Robot who is made entirely from recycled materials as well as this year’s special feature, live music from a pedal powered stage!

Thanks to The Lions who, among other elements, organised a great display of Classic Cars which they judged alongside the Mayor and Army. There were also Royal Enfield Motorbikes, and a display of new cars (including electric) as well as craft stalls, eco-friendly businesses, information, demonstrations and more.

Leisure Portfolio Holder, Cllr Jo Beecham, said: “I’ve heard wonderful reports from my colleagues and constituents alike about how much they enjoyed this year’s Green Fair. I myself particularly enjoyed the flower making and spinning wheel. The hard work of all the partners involved truly paid off and it was a huge success, drawing people from far and wide to our beautiful town.”

Cllr Matt Dormer, Leader of Redditch Borough Council, added: “Arrow Valley Country Park is a superb venue that, thanks to its central location, can be easily accessed by so many people across the town and beyond. It’s great that events like this can thrive there. Thank you to the partners for organising, the visitors for attending and to the sun for shining all day!”

If you enjoyed the event, if there was something you think could be improved, or if you have any feedback, you can share your views with the Parks and Events team at events@bromsgroveandredditch.gov.uk.

The Green Fair and Lions Fun Day is free annual event by a partnership of Redditch Borough Council and Redditch Lions, featuring the 37th Signal Regiment, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, and West Mercia Police.
