Rehab Sessions Start Soon for Residents
The latest round of free ESCAPE-pain rehab sessions for sufferers of arthritic pain are due to start next month across the Borough.
ESCAPE-pain is a group rehab program for people living with joint pain that uses education and coping strategies alongside exercise.
It helps you to understand your condition better, teaches you simple things you can help yourself with, and takes you through a progressive exercise program so that you can learn how to cope with the pain easier.
Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Cllr Juliet Barker Smith, said: “Getting older and suffering from aches and pains that persistently make our lives difficult and limit our ability to go about our day-to-day activities, can really put a strain on people’s mental health. That’s why I am so pleased that we can put on these sessions which will hopefully enable sufferers of chronic pain to find enhanced coping strategies.”
Starting in FEBRUARY 2025, the programme details are below, and sessions are completely FREE:
- 6 Weeks
- 12 Sessions
- Wednesdays: 02.30PM - 03:30PM - The Abbey Stadium
- Fridays: 02:30PM - 03:30PM – The Abbey Stadium
Leader of the Council, Cllr Joe Baker, said: “ESCAPE-pain are amazing sessions that have been successful in improving the daily lives of arthritic pain sufferers around the Borough so it’s great news they are carrying on into 2025!”
