Redditch Market launches this spring
Redditch’s outdoor market is set to return to the town with a special launch event.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony, complete with street entertainers and music, will see the Mayor of Redditch Cllr Juma Begum declare the market officially open on Saturday March 29.
The market is returning to Redditch town centre after a four-year absence, bringing with it new opportunities for local traders and stallholders.
Portfolio Holder for Regeneration and Leader of the Council, Cllr Joe Baker, said: “We promised the return of our much-loved market and we have delivered. There’s been great progress in a short space of time. We’ve got the stalls in. We’ve got the infrastructure in. And we’ve recruited some brand-new traders ready for the launch, with more sure to follow as shoppers rediscover the market and it takes root and grows back again.
“With the support of the community firmly behind it, we can now ensure that over time our mix of market stalls develops to improve the shopping experience and encourage more people into the town centre, whether from across Redditch or from further afield.
“For now, I look forward to seeing people out enjoying the music and entertainment and getting behind the local traders at the launch event.”
All are welcome to the free event, which is being held near to Redditch Library by Church Green and the John Bonham Memorial where the market will be opened, at 11am.
