Redditch Brough Council Presents Wonderful Women’s Day this International Women’s Day

Women of Redditch are invited to attend a Wonderful Women’s Day event on the 8th of March – International Women’s Day.

Redditch Borough Council are working with Rubicon Leisure to bring together services that support women and women’s health in the Borough for a day of informational sessions and activities.

The event will be attended by a range of services that support women, and others, in the area including the Breast screening Service, Me V Me, Brainworks Therapy, and the Social Prescribes.

Taking place on the 8th of March from 12pm till 2pm at the Boathouse at Arrow Valley Countryside Centre, the event will welcome a local instructor who will host a number of informational and exercise sessions. As well as having information about different local women’s group to encourage attendees to get involved, to reduce social isolation and encourage new friendships.

Leader of the Council, Cllr. Matt Dormer, said: “This event is an exciting opportunity for women to come together on a day dedicated to celebrating what it is to be a woman to receive specialist advice and meet new people.”

There will be a handful of group sessions on topical topics taking place throughout the day. Including Thriving in the Menopause at 1pm and How to Find Your Pelvic Floor (and Keep It!) at 12.30pm and 1.30pm. All sessions will be delivered by knowledgeable and friendly health providers and the will be on hand to answer any questions attendees might have.

Sports Development Officer, and organiser of the event, Hayley Gwilliam, said: “As we all live and age there are many experiences shared by the whole population, however there are several changes that are unique to women. So, for this International Women’s Day, I felt it presented an excellent opportunity to put on an event tackling those topics to support the women of Redditch.”

As part of the offering the Abbey Stadium will be offering free day passes to use their facilities and running a series of classes for women only on the 13th of March 2024:

  • 9.15am: Sh’Bam
  • 10.15am: Spin
  • 10.30am: Walking Netball
  • 11.15am: Ladies That Lift
  • 8pm: Ladies Only Swim Session
