New Tai Chi Class in Redditch
A new Tai Chi class has started in Redditch, giving residents wishing to improve their health in a relaxed environment a chance to get active.
Tai Chi is a mind-body practice that requires concentration as you move through series of moves to create ‘The Form’, promoting mindfulness in participants.
The class takes place at The Bridge Community Hall on a Tuesday morning at 11am each week.
Practicing Tai Chi has been proven to have a positive impact on both physical and mental wellbeing. The practice stresses the importance of focussing on your heart rate, posture, and breathing to promote increased body awareness.
Leader of the Council, Cllr. Matt Dormer, said: “Taking time to be mindful during your day can have a massive positive impact on your overall mental wellbeing and this new Tai Chi class gives residents the opportunity to do just that, whilst also getting physically active. Classes such as these are vital to our residents, they give people the opportunity not only to improve their mental and physical wellbeing but also to socialise and meet new people in safe environments. Creating opportunities for communities like this in our town is so important and I am delighted that this new opportunity has been created for people to get fitter and practice mindfulness in a safe and inclusive setting.”
Classes are £5 a week on a pay as you go basis and there is no need to book, you can just turn up.
Supported by Redditch Borough Council, the classes will be delivered by Juanita Ochoa. A local independent fitness instructor who has over 15 years of experience delivering specialist health classes.
