Event To Tackle The Blues
Redditch Borough Council has teamed up with partners and organisations to put on a free event with a common goal – to beat Blue Monday.
Working with Rubicon Leisure and Redditch United Football Club the Tackling Mental Health Together event aims to provide a safe space for residents to explore the support available to them.
There will be talks from The Mind Loft and Koala Tree CIC and active sessions including Walking Football and Just Breathe Yoga and Well-Being.
Rubicon Leisure’s own Marting Carver will be talking about cancer rehab, the Mental health and health buses will also be there as well as other partners being on hand to offer support ands guidance including MIND, MacMillan and Ahead of Well-being.
It falls on January 20th which is considered nationally as being the most depressing day of the year nationally factoring in the weather and post-Christmas lull.
Redditch Borough Council’s Portfolio-holder for Community Services Cllr Monica Stringfellow said: “We recognise that at times life can be challenging for some of our residents, their family and friends and we want to not only showcase the help and support which is available – but to make it easily accessible.
“Learning new relaxation techniques and becoming more active also can help with increasing well-being and this is a great opportunity to explore all of these things.”
Tackling Mental Health Together is being held at Redditch United Football Club.
Redditch Borough Council Leader Joe Baker said: “Mental Health does not discriminate and affects us all even if not directly.
“We have so many groups and organisations across the Borough who are committed to making a difference an as a Council, and I personally, want to support this.”
The event runs from 11.30am to 3.30pm with limited spaces which can be booked Tackling Mental Health Together | Rubicon Leisure. Refreshments will be available.
