Council celebrates milestone achievement with installation of latest kitchen

Redditch Borough Council has this week proudly announced the completion of its 100th kitchen renovation under their Internal Refurbishment Investment Programme.

The kitchen, which was finished in early March, marks a significant milestone in the council’s commitment to providing high-quality housing for its residents through an ongoing programme of work by the council’s Repairs and Maintenance Team.

This work is part of the first phase of the council’s 5-year Internal Refurbishment Investment Programme, which has an annual spend of up to £2m per year, and aims to revitalise, modernise, and improve the quality of their housing stock for the benefit of the council tenants living in them.

Ms. Giles, who lives in the property where the 100th kitchen was recently refurbished, said: “I can’t believe the transformation. I am very happy, and I can’t wait to start decorating this weekend!”

Portfolio Holder for Housing, Cllr Craig Warhurst, said: “It was a pleasure to meet Ms. Giles and see what a difference this work has made. This is a shining example of the hard work and dedication of the teams working on the ground, without whom none of this would happen. This is the first milestone of many for this investment programme, but it shows the dedication of this administration to improving the lives of residents living in Redditch.”

Leader of the council, Cllr Matt Dormer, said: “I am very proud that we can celebrate this milestone which reflects how we are taking strides to improve our housing stock and the lives of our residents, through strategic investments and forward-thinking initiatives. There is still a long way to go, but we are delivering on the promises made, to provide safe, comfortable, and modern homes for our residents.”
