Buildings Must Be Demolished After Council Defends Case

Numerous buildings built without the benefit of planning permission will have to be removed as Redditch Borough Council successfully defended an appeal against an enforcement notice it issued.

Horticultural and agricultural stores, a five bay garage, agricultural and equine store, stable block capable of housing ten horses and horse walker at Blaze Lane, Astwood Bank, will have to cease the use and be taken down brick by brick and the debris removed from site.

This follows a decision made by the Planning Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State, on June 12 following an Inquiry last month (May).

Appeals were made by Julie Milward following enforcement notices issued by the Council after the buildings were added to the land without planning permission. She was told to cease the use of the buildings and horse walker and demolish them.

Ms Milward’s appeals were extensively dismissed by the Inspector following the Inquiry which also included a site visit.

Head of Worcestershire Regulatory Services Simon Wilkes said: “Enforcement and Planning officers have worked together, with tenacity, to gather the evidence which led to the Inspector’s decision which we whole-heartedly welcome.”

Redditch Borough Council’s Head of Planning Ruth Bamford added: “It demonstrates that we will not ignore such breaches and we will continue to ensure the Inspector’s decision is upheld.”
