What is Data protection and information management?

Data Protection legislation sets rules and conditions which organisations such as councils must obey when collecting and using information about you, and give you certain rights which must be respected. 

This is overseen and regulated by the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) who provide guidance. 

Why does the Council keep personal information?

As a Local Authority, we collect, hold and process information supplied by you in accordance with Data Protection legislation to allow us to provide services effectively and fulfil our legal obligations.
