Records Management
The Council holds a large amount of information to enable it to carry out its functions.
This information may relate to specific topics or individuals, and it includes records kept by the Council of decisions and actions taken, and the reasons for them. This is an essential support for effective, evidence-based policy-making and service delivery.
It is, therefore, important to ensure that business information is managed effectively throughout the organisation in whatever format it is held.
A Code of Practice issued under Section 46 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 provides guidance for public authorities on the records management practices they should follow to meet their obligations under the Act.
Additionally, Data Protection legislation requires that appropriate procedures and security measures are in place to ensure the security of personal data.
