Supporting Small Business Relief Scheme 2023/24
In the 2022 Autumn Statement, the Government introduced a relief to support small businesses. This aims to help businesses that face an increase in their bill due to lost small business rates relief.
Transitional Relief from April 2023
From the 1 April 2023 the Government have put into place a transitional relief scheme to limit and phase in increases in rate bills as a result of the 2023 revaluation.
Heat Network Relief
At the Spring Statement 2022, the Chancellor announced a new Heat Network Relief will apply from the 1 April 2022 for hereditaments being used wholly or mainly as a heat network which have their own rating assessment.

Relief for charities and community sports clubs
If you are a registered charity, community amateur sports club or a non-profit organisation you may be eligible for business rates relief
Exempted and Empty property relief
You don’t have to pay business rates on empty buildings for 3 months or even longer for certain specific properties
Hardship relief
If you are experiencing exceptional financial hardship you may qualify for hardship relief
Relief for local newspapers
If your property is used as an office premises for reporters or journalists of a local newspaper you could be entitled to local newspapers relief
Retail discount
The 2023/24 Retail, Hospitality and Leisure business rates relief scheme will provide eligible, occupied, retail, hospitality and leisure properties with a 75% relief, up to a cash cap limit of £110,000 per business.
Improvement relief
If you make certain improvements to your property, you may get relief from higher business rates bills. If you meet the necessary requirements we will apply the relief to your bills. Find out more here.
